Chengdu Climate

The climate of Chengdu is mild and humid with distinct four seasons and plenty of rainfall. Its subtropical monsoon climate is characterized by an early spring, hot summer, cool autumn and warm winter. Boasting a warm climate with an average temperature of 15-16ºC, Chengdu remains pleasant and relatively dry the year round. There are several climatic zones in Chengdu, making the city favorable for agricultural production and tourism development. The hottest season here is during July and August when

temperatures can be almost unbearable although Chengdu does have a few nice spots outside the city center where it is possible to get some shade and respite from the heat. The best time to visit is between March and June or between September and November. Chengdu's summer is sultry with low temperature morning and evening, but high after noon. To avoid strong ultraviolet radiation and to stay dry, take a raincoat. The average temperature in winter is about 5 degrees Centigrade. However, due to the clouds and moist weather, it feels very cold when warm clothes are needed.
