Baotou Climate

Baotou enjoys the semi-dry continental monsoon climate in southern region of the Mongolian Plateau, with the annual average temperature of 8 degrees celsius. The city is about 1000 meters above the sea level and faces the Yellow River in its south. The fertile Tumocha Plain and He-tao Plain extend away from its west and east. Baotou enjoys four distinct seasons with the large average temparature difference in January (-17 degrees celsius) and July (25 degrees celsius). But, the temperature in winter can reach to -30

degrees celsius and 40 degrees celsius in summer. Guests need to wear the thick down jacket to enjoy the ice and ski activities during the winter time, and just wear the T-shirt to go outside in summer. Guests can also enjoy the skiing in Baotou in the cold winter. Baotou is not a city with the humid climate, because the rainfalls of the city is around 270 mm annually.
