- A vast land spanning many degrees of latitude with complicated terrain in China, climate varies correspondly. From north to south, there are five temperature zones and a plateau-climate zone. Influenced by latitude and monsoon activities, summer in China can be said to be defined by the southern monsoon winds which create a warm moist climate, while in Winter the Siberian winds from the north cause a mostly dry and bitterly cold climate.This aside, the geography features of each Province play a significant role in forming regional weather patterns.
China has regions in many of the different weather zones. Two regions that can be taken as examples are the Nanling Mountains which experience almost rainforest conditions, and the Yangtze River valley which experiences the four distinct seasons.
