Located inside the Beijing Botanical Garden at the foot of the picturesque Western Hills, it is a low-wall rectangle Qing Dynasty courtyard with 18 rooms in two rows. On display in the show rooms at the front row are the model of living environment of the Qing Manchu and Cao Xueqin. There are also books, articles; important discoveries related to the life experience of Cao Xueqin. In the six show rooms in the back row are history & family background of Cao Xueqin and the influence of A Dream of Red Mansions. Exhibits are folk style table, wardrobes, blue flower porcelain wares, as well as Manchu Shaman Religion complete set sacrificial utensils, silver lock, hand stove, horsetail whisk mentioned in A Dream of Red Mansions. The achievement on the study of Cao Xueqin and various versions of A Dream of Red Mansions are also on show in the special rooms.
